Step aboard our special train, running exclusively on Saturday 24th October, for a memorable day excursion alone the scenic Settle to Carlisle Railway to our destinations of Skipton and Keighley.
Departing from Scotland’s Capital, Edinburgh we head south with convenient pick-ups at Linlithgow, Falkirk Grahamston, Greenfaulds, Motherwell, Lockerbie and Carlisle it’s easy to step aboard and let the adventure begin.
Travel together in beautifully restored British Rail Mk1 carriages, where spacious seating and large windows make it easy to relax and enjoy the views as they pass. Our train is hauled by British Rail Class 37025 ‘Inverness TMD’ to and from Carlisle before being replaced by a pair of Locomotive Services Ltd Class 20s for the journey over the Settle to Carlisle Railway. A class 47 is expected to be on the rear for assistance and ETH supply.
On board, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy the comfort of at-seat dining with a hearty breakfast on the outward journey and a delicious three-course evening dinner on the way home. Prefer something more casual? Our buffet car offers hot and cold drinks, morning rolls and plenty of snacks to keep little travellers smiling throughout the day.
Spend time exploring the Yorkshire market town of Skipton or head to Keighley for a trip on the heritage railway. However you choose to spend your time, this relaxed and enjoyable rail tour offers a wonderful way to travel creating memories that will last long after the journey ends.
Our journey begins in Edinburgh, where we warmly welcome our first passengers on board before heading towards Linlithgow, Falkirk Grahamston and Greenfaulds.
We then join the West Coast Mainline with further pick ups at Motherwell, Lockerbie and Carlisle.
At Carlisle we change locomotive before we begin our journey over the popular Settle to Carlisle Railway with some of the most picturesque landscapes in England including a trip across the stunning Ribblehead viaduct. We then arrive at our first destination of Skipton before continuing on to Keighley were we stable to the afternoon.
Skipton and Keighley – Free Time
We hope to be able to provide approximately 3 hours of free time in Skipton, allowing plenty time to experience everything that the village has to offer. For those who choose to stay on board for Keighley, we hope to have 2 hours of free time allowing adequate time for a trip along the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
Return Journey
Our return journey departs Keighely with our Class 20s up front and retraces our route back north to Carlisle before we swap for 37025 ‘Inverness TMD’ back home.
The train is operated by our Partners at Locomotive Services Limited.
